The Civic Cup convoy hits the Northampton countryside of Rockingham Speedway, the sun shining but overcast its was sure to be a eventful day, newcomer Rob Baker was on a stormer followed closely by Luke Sedzikowski and Rich Hockley.

The 2.05 mile Nascar style circuit was bound to give us some high speed entertainment and some close actioned racing which the Civic Cup always delivers. Everybody was on the pace with a 1:47 time but the pace of Rob Bakers EP couldn’t be matched in qualifying.

Race 1 had one of the best battles we have seen in the Civic Cup with Rich Hockley and Luke Sedzikowski swapping places with the EP Platform stronger on the straights but was no match for the lighter EK on the brakes and corners.

Michael Hamlett was back on form after struggling at the start of the season recovering from a incident. Great to see him back up there and fighting, Dave Payling , Craig Shore and Mark Anderson also having a great race and swapping positions and who could out brake the other. Matt Kirby had a spin causing him to chase the pack and Nathan Burrell damaging his exhaust on the high kerbs of the circuit. Nick Chatburn having a strong race was catching the front runners with his EK4 Coupe, until disaster, his clutch failed causing him to limp to the end of the race.

Rob Baker takes the chequered flag, with Luke, Rich and Mart

Race 2 again saw Rob Baker leading the pack again with Luke pulling away from Rich in this race unable to match the pace of race 1, Tim Evans was next in line after a disappointing 9th in the first race he had a point to prove breezing through the pack to 3rd place back to his consistent self and gaining points for the series. Craig Shore also had a brilliant race moving to 4th place overall.

Car 12 of Leon Thornley was having one of his best races until a last lap lunge put him in the tyre wall closely followed by Mark Anderson unfortunately involved in the incident as well after his first race 5th position. the flag drops on the second race and Rob takes the hat trick. With Luke and Rich take the Series positions overall, great weekend for new and current drivers which is seeing this series grow stronger and stronger every round, Brands Hatch is 3 weeks away and is sure to end the 2013 season with a bang!
